Monthly Meetings

6:30 - 8:30 PM

Every third Thursday of of the month, excluding December

Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Birmingham, Alabama

Open to members and non-members

The Jefferson County Beekeepers’ Association holds monthly meetings for members and non-members at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The monthly meetings are a place where non-beekeepers, beginner beekeepers, and experienced beekeepers can come together to learn more about honey bees.

Each meeting focuses on a variety of educational topics about honey bees and how we can take care of them more effectively as beekeepers. Utilizing guest speakers and experienced beekeepers, meetings are designed to provide relevant guidance so all of our members and the public can learn more about honey bees and how to manage their colonies.

Bee Removals

Removing colonies of bees from unwanted places is one of the greatest ways our club can help the public.

Nothing gives a person more confidence…
than to be zipped snugly inside a bee suit.

— Sue Hubbel

Beekeeping Classes

The Jefferson County Beekeepers’ Association hosts beekeeping classes each spring to help prepare aspiring beekeepers. These multi-week classes are designed to introduce beginners to bees and to provide resources for starting off on the right foot.
