Monthly Beekeeping Meetings

Monthly Beekeeping Meetings

  • Speakers

Each month our meetings center around a particular topic presented by a local beekeeper or a member of the greater beekeeping community.

Topics will range from honey marketing to how to feed your bees and more. While some topics may be advanced and some basic, there is always something to learn from our speakers.

  • Gleanings from Experience

Our more experienced members have been keeping bees for decades and have seen the ups and downs of the hobby.

Each week we tap an experienced member to share with us something interesting that is happening in the beekeeping industry.

  • Timely Tips

Beekeeping is as much an art as it is a science. Much of the science can be learned from books but the art side comes from experience and wisdom.

While no meeting can prepare every beekeeper, you will hear many tips and tricks about how you can help your bees this month.

Meeting Details

  • The third Thursday of every month except for December. Meetings start at 6:30 and end at 8:30. The club meets inside the front building next to the gift shop.

  • Come to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and park in the main parking lot. The botanical gardens has many rooms but you will not have a problem finding the beekeepers meeting.

  • You don’t have to bring anything to the meetings. Just come and enjoy the information and please participate and talk to other people there.

  • Anyone is welcome. You do not need to be a member.

  • The meetings follow a pretty standard format and you will hear a lot of different people presenting. There is always one main talk with a couple smaller ones. You do not need to speak up and we have between 30 and 100 people in attendance each month.

  • If you have specific questions or problems, please come and someone will definitely be able to assist you. We have a lot of beekeeping experience in our club and there is always a beekeeper available to help educate or give an honest opinion. You can bring pictures and/or actual equipment, as that could help us answer your question.

  • We really encourage non-beekeepers to come to the meetings to get a feeling for what it’s like to take care of bees. You don’t need bees to come and learn about bees; so please join us!
